Further Developments: Google OpenSocial – MySpace Alliance

Following on from my post yesterday, it appears that Google has rocketed off to an ingenius start by forming an alliance with MySpace to promote a common set of standards for software developers to write programs for social networks. The ultimate goal: death of Facebook. Perhaps…?

  2. That is a very interesting move within the social network sphere. I think that MySpace is realising it had to do something rapidly to reclaim its market share, and it seems as if this effort will help it do so.
On the flip side, perhaps Mark Zuckerberg (Facebook creator) should have sold more than 1.6% of Facebook (as per your previous post) if Facebook will start to lose market share and hence its value begin to decline.
Either way, this is a very dynamic sphere right now with the major heavyweights fighting tooth and nail for global market share. Definitely an interesting one to keep an eye on.

  3. Not sure about other people but I really did not like the design of MySpace as a website. I have found Facebook much more user friendly and unless they plan on doing a major revamp along with this alliance, I know I won’t be moving back to MySpace in any hurry.

  4. After reading what you said yesterday and visit the website you recommand, I want to share the situation of chinese facebook(which is called”xiaonei” in China) and myspace.

In Beijing, xiaonei is the first choice for most university students while in Shanghai, my hometome , myspace is more popular than xiaonei. However, lately , with more popularity of xiaonei in Shanghai, i think the chinese facebook is the hottest one in China:)
